*Regarding Grade AA, AAAA - the more A's the thicker the dobari is when it comes to dobari shinais. AA are Keichiku and AAAA are Madake bamboo.

The more A's, the higher the quality of the shinai; however, every individual has their preferences. Some kendoka prefer A to AAAA regardless of price and quality difference.

Good shinai!

The Hokubei team was very helpful in getting this shinai the way I wanted. I use it every practice and it feels great every time! I would definitely recommend and order these again

Very well balanced shinai.

I bought this shinai for daily practice, and I find it very useful. It is well balanced and can withstand the rigors of repetitive strikes which is what I am looking for in a practice shinai. I would certainly buy this again once the bulk has been used!
