*Regarding Grade A, AA, AAA, AAAA - the more A's the thicker the dobari is when it comes to dobari shinais. AAA and AAAA are Madake bamboo.

The more A's, the higher the quality of the shinai; however, every individual has their preferences. Some kendoka prefer A to AAAA regardless of price and quality difference.
